PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital signal recording and reproducing device that surely reproduces a signal continuously by reducing a processing load to detect a switched program from a video tape without adding data such as a flag indicating the switched program onto the video tape as a conventional device even when the video tape where the plural programs are continuously recorded thereon is continuously reproduced. SOLUTION: This digital signal recording and reproducing device is provided with a recording means that records an output of an extract circuit 4a, a reproduction means that reproduces a stream recorded by the recording means, a switching means 24 that switches a multiplexed stream and a reproduced stream from the reproduction means and outputs the switched stream to the extract circuit 4a and a control means that controls the extract circuit 4a so as to extract a program specified by changed additional information when a change in the additional information included in the stream from the reproduction means is detected.
