PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an eddy-current reduction gear which can suppress dragging torque by suppressing the magnetic flux which leaks to the cylindrical section of a rotor from adjacent switch plates at the time of turning off braking without deteriorating the braking power when braking is turned on. SOLUTION: An eddy-current reduction gear is provided with a rotor integrally attached to a rotating shaft, a group of permanent magnets 6 which are opposingly supported by the rotor in such a way that the magnets 6 are arranged at regular intervals along the peripheral direction of the rotor so that their magnetic poles may be faced oppositely to each other, a group of switch plates 7 made of a ferromagnetic material and arranged between the magnets 6 and rotor at the same arranging intervals as those of the magnets 6, and supporting bodies 3 made of a nonmagnetic material and arranged between adjacent switch plates 7. In addition, ferromagnetic bodies 11 are arranged at the portions of the supporting bodies 3 between adjacent switch plates 7.
