PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide orthogonal frequency division multiplex signal transmission method, transmitter and receiver capable of reducing the circuit scale of the orthogonal frequency division multiplex signal transmitter and receiver capable of selecting many encoding and modulation systems corresponding to a reception condition by using a puncture code and also excellently performing viterbi decoding even at the time of using the puncture code. SOLUTION: An input circuit 41 frame-synthesizes digital data for which encoding is performed in the trellis encoding circuit of a single encoding rate to input data, puncture encoding is performed at a specified encoding rate and then mapping is performed by a specified modulation mapping system and puncture synchronizing signals and generates R signals and I signals. An output circuit 45 frame-decodes reception signals and then, performs the de- puncture conversion of data at a specified conversion rate by using frame- decoded puncture synchronizing signals. Thereafter, in a viterbi decoding circuit for which an additional circuit is added to a viterbi decoder corresponding to the single encoding rate same as the one on a modulation side, the viterbi decoding is performed.
