PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a modulation characteristic by increasing a contact area with a magnetic disk without changing an external size to prevent head squeaking. SOLUTION: This magnetic head is provided with two recessed air grooves 5 roughly in the center part on a slider 2. Each air groove 5 rectifies the flow of air by the rotation of a floppy disk to improve a contact state with a magnetic disk. Since the two air groove 5 are narrower than a conventional air groove and provided on the slider, the contact area of the slider 2 with the floppy disk can be increased by the slider 2. Thus, for the magnetic head, only by changing the widths of the air grooves, the head squeaking and the modulation characteristic are easily improved.
