<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the image coder, the image decoder and the image transmission system with small reduction in the coding efficiency when no error takes place, where no error is propagated. SOLUTION: In the case that a transmission error takes place in, e.g. a frame 2, the motion picture decoder replaces an error block with a picture of a frame 1 to correct the error block, returns a signal denoting presence of a decode error to the moving picture coder. When the moving picture decoder receives a signal denoting the presence of a decoding error, replaces the error block of the frame 2 with the picture of the frame 1 to correct the error block, and also corrects surrounding blocks of a frame 3 that are coded till the error block is used for prediction resulting that a reference frame used by the moving picture coder for coding is made the same as a reference frame to be used by the moving picture decoder for decoding.</p> |
