PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pixel interpolation processing method interpolating new pixels having optimum pixel values in accordance with states among original pixels, and an unit therefor, and a digital picture display device provided with them. SOLUTION: Difference values of pixel values among respective original pixels are calculated by obtaining pixel values of respective original pixels (S1). Arrangement position information of new pixels to be interpolated in intervals among the original pixels are calculated by dividing the intervals among the original pixels (S2, S3). When the difference values are larger than a threshold value, new arrangement position information in which the arranged information are weighted are calculated and when the difference values are smaller than the threshold value, the arrangement position information are made new arrangement position information (S4, S5). Pixel values of new pixels to be interpolated among the original pixels are calculated by substituting the new arrangement position information into a linear interpolation function for performing a linear interpolation (S6 to S8). As a result, an output picture which is relatively faithful to the original picture can be obtained with a small-scale circuit structure. |
