PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dispersion compensator for bidirectional transmission which actualizes more economical optical transmission of high quality and an optical communication system which uses it. SOLUTION: Wave-multiplexed signal light 1-1 of an up line which is inputted to a 1st optical circulator 3-1 is amplified by an Er-added optical fiber 7-1, demultiplexed to wavelength bands by a WDM(wavelength demultiplexing) filter 9-1, reflected by chirped grating elements 10-1 and 2, returned to the WDM filter 9-1 and multiplexed, and returned to the 1st optical circulator 3-1 and outputted. Wavelength-multiplexed signal 2-1 of a down line which is inputted to a 2nd optical circulator 3-2 is amplified by an Er-added optical fiber 7-2, demultiplexed to wavelength bands by a WDM filter 9-2, reflected by chirped grating elements 10-3 and 4, returned to the WDM filter 9-2 and multiplexed, and returned to the 2nd optical circulator 3-2 and outputted. |
