PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively suppress power consumption at providing of a buffer amplifier for each line in an image sensor for disposing photoelectric conversion elements by plural pixel units in a matrix shape and successively reading the pixel information of the respective photoelectric conversion elements in the selected line, while selecting the line in a row direction. SOLUTION: A dedicated power source for driving the buffer amplifier BF provided for each line of this image sensor is provided through a control switch 4, and only at the time of reading the pixel information from the respective lines, the control switch 4 is turned on, and power is supplied to the buffer amplifier BF. The time required for reading the pixel information from the respective photoelectric conversion elements is considerably shorter (about one pat in several tens of minutes) than the storage time of the pixel information, and no disturbance occurs even when the power is not supplied to the buffer amplifier BF during the period in which there is no reading of the pixel information. Thus, by stopping the supply of the power to the buffer amplifier BF other than the time of reading the pixel information from the respective lines, the total power consumption is reduced.
