PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically generate a desirable headline by providing an important element extraction means, a sentence generation means which generates a single sentence based on the extracted important elements, an output means which outputs the generated sentence, etc. SOLUTION: An input device 102 inputs a 1st natural language article (Japanese newspaper article) 100 and a summary parameter 101 which designates the degree of abbreviation of article and the threshold of importance for the entire article 100 and the elements respectively. An importance decision part 103 processes the inputted article 100 based on the importance decision rule of an importance decision rule table 104 and decides the importance of every sentence. Then the important elements are extracted via an importance element extraction part 108 against the result that is obtained by giving importance to every element. Each of these extracted elements is turned into the summary sentence of a single sentence via a single-sentence summary sentence generation part 109. The summary sentence is automatically translated by a machine translator 112, and a 2nd natural language headline 114 is obtained via an outer device 113. |
