PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a network from becoming an overload state in a printer connected to the network. SOLUTION: This printer connected to the network is provided with a receiving means to receive printing data and a printing instruction, a detecting means to detect all pieces of data to flow in the network, a recording means to record information about data quantity by taking out the information from the detected data, a judging means to judge a load state of the network by utilizing the recorded information about the data quantity and a printing control means to permit the printing instruction only when the load state of the network is judged to be lower than a specified threshold by the judging means.
