PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a method for enhancing the 0.2% yield strength of a rectangular insulated superconducting wire, without lowering the value of RRR-(residual resistance ratio) and without causing deterioration in insulation break down voltage. SOLUTION: This method is for molding a rectangular insulated superconducting wire with a circular cross-section made by applying and baking an insulating coating material onto a superconducting conductor into a rectangular cross-section by rolling and/or drawing, and the molding is performed so that the rate of work Rt and the rate of reduction in area Rs satisfy a relational expression, 0.95<=[π(1-Rs/100+4(1-Rt/100)2]/2π(1-Rt/100)<=1.30.
