A process for producing a feed pellet from grain comprising: grinding the grain; separating the ground grain into a water insoluble protein rich fraction and a water suspendable starch rich fraction by introducing the ground grain into a liquid containing vessel that includes a bubbling gas stream for causing the protein rich fraction to float to the surface of the liquid in the vessel whereby the starch rich fraction remains suspended in the liquid; and subjecting the water insoluble protein rich fraction to sufficient temperature and pressure to produce a pellet.
