The auxiliary engine system (1) has a continuously controlled gearbox arrangement (2), at least one auxiliary device (3), e.g. a charger or compressor, and a control or regulating unit (4), whereby depending on the function of the auxiliary device the gearbox arrangement is mounted on the input shaft (5) or output shaft of the auxiliary device. The power can be varied by corresponding control of the gearbox arrangement in a defined region.
