FIELD: determination of physical and mechanical characteristics of materials. SUBSTANCE: device is meant for determination of characteristics of surface layers of objects by sclerometric method for evaluation of crack resistance, strength of adhesion of coat to base, etc. Device for sclerometric examination of materials includes object table, loading unit with indenter whose loading force can be varied, system registering scratching effort, system recording signals of acoustic emission, unit controlling depth of penetration of indenter, unit controlling pneumatic motor of loading unit, aid for visual control of depth of penetration of indenter. EFFECT: increased accuracy of obtained information on properties of material, enhanced informativity of recorded parameters of destruction of material. 9 cl, 13 dwg
