The cooler has at least one connecting channel between a high temperature working chamber and a low temperature working chamber. A heat exchanger (20) on the high temperature side, a regenerator (22) and a heat exchanger (21) on the low temperature side are mounted in the connecting channel. Dead volume in connecting channel on low temperature side of regenerator is smaller than the dead volume on the high side of the regenerator.
