New 3-phenyl-4-hydroxy-2-pyrone derivatives useful as pesticides, herbicides and fungicides

3-Phenyl-4-hydroxy-2-pyrone derivatives (I) are new. 3-Phenylpyrones of formula (I) are new, except for 2-(4-fluoro-3-methylphenyl)-4-hydroxy-5-methyl-6-(2-pyridyl)-2-pyrone and 2-(4-chloro-3-methylphenyl)-4-hydroxy-5-methyl-6-(4-fluorophenyl)-2-py rone: X, Y = alkyl or halogen, one being alkyl and the other halogen; A = H, alkyl or optionally substituted aryl; D = H, alkyl, optionally substituted cycloalkyl, optionally substituted aryl, optionally substituted heterocyclyl or CH2-O-CO-R; R = optionally substituted phenyl; alternatively, A and D are joined to form a carbocyclic or heterocyclic ring. An Independent claim is also included for a process for preparing (I).
