Several microphones (1) are used to detect an acoustic field around an object. CCD camera (2) detects a visual image of the object. Sound/light mixed image of the object is generated using data processing system (3). Color values of acoustic field are assigned to gray scale values of corresponding locations on visual image. Microphones and camera may be fixed relative to each other on a stand.
