The wind wheel has vane units (1) mounted on a mast (4) at a distance from the mast on arms (2,3) rigidly attached to the mast. The mast is rotatably mounted and the vane units are connected to a wind direction dependent setting device (5) for aligning and adjusting the profile of the vane units with respect to the wind direction. The vane units, which consist of at least two mutually relatively movable segments are adjustable over a rotation cycle from one extreme setting via a neutral setting to another extreme setting to form position-dependent, aerodynamic lift utilizing curvatures.
