Retard tablet of antiepileptic agent losigamone, containing combination of retarding and disintegrating agents to provide appropriate slow release from tablet of acceptable size

A novel losigamone (I) (i.e. (/!)-5(R,S)- alpha (S,R)-5-((2'-chlorophenylhydroxymethyl)-4-methoxy-2(5H)-furanone) retard tablet is obtained by granulating at least 60 wt. % (I) with a retarding agent (II) and pressing into a tablet with addition of at least one disintegrating agent (III). An Independent claim is included for the preparation of the tablet, as described above.
