RETAINING WALL BLOCKS

A retaining wall block (10) adapted for attachment to a geogrid sheet (38) has an upper side (16) with a first portion (24) adjacent to the front side (12) of the block (10) and a second portion (26) adjacent to the rear side (14) of the block (10) at a lower height. A row of projections (32) on the second portion (26) is adapted for engagement in apertures of a geogrid sheet (38). The top of the projections (32) is at the same height as the first portion (24) of the upper side (16) of the block (10) so that a block (10) in an upper course is supported by both the first portion (24) of the upper side and the projections (32) on the lower block (10). The block (10) may include an aperture (52) adapted for receiving a fence post. The block (10) may include removable pins (302, 402, 502), rather than projections (32) that are integral with the blocks (10), to engage the geogrid (38). The block (10) may include a stepped front face (12), having its middle (124) or its lateral portions (126, 128) projecting, to facilitate construction of a wall having a face in which horizontally and vertically adjacent segments are alternately projecting or recessed.
