<p>A web (12) with punched registration holes (41) and notches (42) is imaged prior to cutting the web (12) by a shear device (52) into individual imaged plates, particularly for use as printing plates. The web (12) with an imageable surface and prepunched registration holes (41) is imaged at an imaging station (44) and sheeted with the punched holes (41) being utilized to assure registration and alignment by a position sensor (50) in the imaging operation and in the subsequent use of the plates on a printing press. The web (12) may be intermittently moved with the imaging being performed while the web (12) is stopped or the web (12) may be continuously moved with the imaging being performed while the web (12) is in motion.</p> |
