Pet foods such as dog foods and cat foods containing cyclodextrins such as .beta.-cyclodextrin. For example, a pet food containing at least 5 % by weig ht of fat based on the solid matters and 1 to 15 % by weight of .beta.- cyclodextrin based on the solid matters. A method for controlling or reducin g the body weight of pets characterized by feeding the pets with the above pet foods in such a manner as to give, for example, 0.1 to 5 g/kg body weight/da y of .beta.-cyclodextrin. These pet foods are novel ones which are comparable to taste and texture to the existing ones and make it possible to control or reduce the body weight of pets without changing the intake. The above method makes it possible to control or reduce the body weight of pets without damaging their health. |
