Connector has a two-part plug with fibres guided in grooves (11) between upper and lower parts and guide pins protruding from the end of the plug with fibre outlet surfaces. Plug is stepped on one side with two surfaces one behind the other to form a protruding end with fibre outlet surfaces (5) in the forward surface (6) and guide pins (8) in the rearward surface (7) sitting in guide channels (10), adjacent to and separate from fibre grooves. Socket has opening with inner cross-section corresponding to that of protruding end of plug. Guide channels around the opening accommodate plug's guide pins.
