The method is based on the fact that the hub of a back wheel to which a torque is applied rotates out of a rest position. The angle of twist is a measure of the torque. The method involves using optical sensors to detect the relative torsion of the wheel hub with respect to the wheel rim when there is an acceleration force on the hub.
