<p>This invention is directed to a novel method for direct in vivo electrotransfection of a plurality of cells of a target tissue. In the method, the target is perfused with a transfection solution. An exterior electrode is positioned so as to surround at least a portion of the target tissue. One or more interior electrodes are placed within the target tissue. The perfusion and the application of the interior and exterior electrodes may be performed in any particular order. After the perfusion and the positioning of the electrodes, both interior and exterior, an electric waveform is applied through the exterior electrode and the interior electrode to transfect the cells in the target tissue.</p> |
