The compressor (1) is provided by a piston-cylinder unit with an inlet valve on the suction side and an outlet valve on the pressure side, the drive force for the compressor provided by the automobile hydraulic system. The piston (3) of the compressor has an attached piston rod (4) acted on by a resetting spring (13) and fitted through a sealed guide (11), with a pneumatic space (5) between the guide and the cylinder cover (7) and a hydraulic space (10) coupled to the hydraulic system at the rear of the guide.
