Construction elements for covering solid or loose (especially sandy) surfaces are at least in part of reactive resin-bonded coloured quartz, the quartz being optionally admixed with natural stone, and the elements being such that (a) the quartz (and optionally also the stone) is of particle size 0.1-8mm; and (b) the quartz particles are covered with a layer of a reactive resin based on waterglass, 1- or 2-component polyurethane, 1-component acrylic or 2-component epoxide, this resin containing a colourant (pigment, dye or metallic pigment) of nearly any colour. The resin used to bond the particles is preferably of any of the above materials or of methyl methacrylate or polyester.
