The inside (1) of the brick forms a thermally insulating support region (2), and the outside (3) of the brick forms a highly thermally insulating non-support region (4). The outer cross-member connecting the two brick regions is set back from the outside of the brick so that by sawing along line up to the non-support region an abutment for a door or window can be formed. The support region is formed by repeating parallel zig-zag-shaped lamellae (9) extending over the entire width, the knee points (10, 11) of adjacent lamellae being joined together via cross-members (12). The thickness of the lamellae and interconnecting lamellae is reduced continuously or stepwise towards the outside. Long slots (15) extend in the direction of the intended wall inside the non-support region, the slot edges (16) being supported in more than one position (17), optionally with the aid of reinforcing elements such as diagonal members (18) or quadrilateral bars. The slots in every second row are offset by a distance at least equal to the length of the cross-member extending between these rows. The inside wall of the brick is divided into alternate protruding and recessed regions, the former region containing a filling structure formed by length direction lamellae, at least two adjacent lamellae being connected via a cross-member.
