The imaging system has at least one projection surface (1) and a co-operating projection unit (2) for reproduction of image information at the projection surface, with the projection unit controlled by detecting the gesture provided by the operator, via an optical detector (4,5). The optical detector may be used for detecting the position and movement of the operator's fingers relative to the projection surface, or the movement of a cursor relative to the projection surface.
