Use of methyl esters of fatty acids from plant raw materials as smoothing agent in softener for producing slubbing by carding wool

Methyl esters (I) of 6-22 carbon (I) fatty acids from plant raw materials are used as smoothing agent in softeners for producing slubbing from wool. Independent claims are also included for: (a) softening agent for producing slubbing, which contains 60-80 wt.% (I), 5-30 wt.% emulsifier and 0-10 wt.% additive; (b) a process for greasing wool in slubbing production, in which the wool is treated with an aqueous emulsion containing 0.25-0.60 wt.% of this softening agent before carding.
