The unit is a combination of two valves. A back pressure valve has a housing (1) fastened to the IC engine, valve ball (2), spring (3), and spring protection stop (4). An upper housing part (5) has two openings (9,11). A pressure chamber (10) stores the pressure of the working gas flowing through the back pressure valve. During starting phase of the engine, the working gas flow is throttled dependent upon the different diameters of the openings. A second valve with upper housing part, valve ball (6) and spring (7), is closed by the pressure generated in the chamber during the starting phase, and opens only after the engine has stopped, due to spring force and valve leakage.
