PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To match the color tone of a printed matter while decreasing the number of sheets of trial print by inputting an offset press stop command upon finishing print of a predetermined number of sheets of printed matter, interrupting ink supply from an ink fountain to an ink roller group, lowering the r.p.m. of an offset press gradually and stopping it eventually. SOLUTION: Ink coatings 60, 61, 62, 63 are formed on an ink roller 51 with substantially identical thickness and the film thickness distribution of a smooth ink coating is formed, as a whole, with minimum quantity of ink. When ink is consumed by a printing block depending on the area of a pattern, a moment exists when the film thickness distribution of ink coating becomes smooth. That moment is employed as a timing for stopping ink supply to plate cylinder. More specifically, consumption of ink is stopped on the ink roller at a moment when the film thickness distribution of ink coating becomes smooth on the ink roller and a smooth state of film thickness distribution is sustained. The number of sheet of test print is minimized by forming a film thickness distribution corresponding to a next print pattern thereon. |
