PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect breathing without attaching a detection directly to the body and warn of apnea by measuring reliably movements of the body of a subject including breathing. SOLUTION: This detector is equipped with a detection mat 2 having a pressure sensitive pipe 21, a pressure measuring means 4 that measures pressure inside the pressure sensitive pipe 21 at every prescribed time with a pressure sensor 41 and a monitor display 3 having an apnea detecting means 5 that receives signals from the pressure measuring means 4 and detects apnea from a pressure change in the pressure sensitive pipe 21. In this case, by laying a subject 100 on this detection mat 2 through a mattress 101 or the like, breathing can be detected without attaching any cord and any sensor, and body movements including breathing of the subject 100 can be measured reliably and the subject can be warned against apnea.
