PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a lubricating oil composition for a metal belt non-stage transmission which composition improves a wear resistance by adding a specific amount of a boron-containing no-ash dispersant containing a specific amount of nitrogen to the base lubricating oil to increase the friction coefficient between the belt and a pulley. SOLUTION: A boron-containing no-ash dispersant containing not less than 1.3 wt.% of nitrogen is added to a lubricating oil composition, in the range of 0.05-10.0 wt.%, against the total amount of the composition. Although the boron content in the dispersant is not limited in a specific range, preferably the lower limit is 0.2 wt.% and the upper limit is 4.0 wt.%. As an example for the boron-containing no-ash dispersant, a succinmide having at least one 40-400C alkyl or alkenyl group in the molecule or its derivative can be cited. Preferably, a basic metal cleaner is added to this lubricating oil composition and further preferably a phosphorus compound is added. By this method, the friction coefficient between the belt and a pulley is further increased and the wear resistance can further be improved.
