A lock (5) mounted on a sliding panel construction that contains a fixed upright frame with a specific profile (2) and a movable upright profile frame (4) that acts as the edge of the sliding panel. When the sliding panel is closed, this second frame (4) encloses part of the fixed upright profile (2). The lock (5) has on the one hand a locking mechanism (14) that has been fixed to the movable profile frame (4) and a catch (16), and on the other hand a locking plate (18) that has an opening (19) for the catch (12) and that is attached to the fixed profile piece (2). The distinguishing feature is that the locking plate (18) has a rib (29) on the side of the sliding panel construction that has to be protected against break-ins, at least in the vicinity of the catch (16), that - when the sliding panel is closed - covers the gap between the locking plate (18) and the lock mechanism (14).<IMAGE> |
