PAPER KIND DISCRIMINATING METHOD AND PRINTER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer capable of automatically judging the kind of paper and correcting the output error due to a reflection type optical sensor. SOLUTION: A first paper detection sensor arranged at one point of the upstream part of a paper feed route and a second paper detection sensor C arranged at one point of the downstream part thereof are provided. The sensor B is constituted of a reflection type optical sensor relatively low in accuracy and the sensor C is constituted of a sensor of high accuracy. When paper 21 is fed, the feed required time from a point of time when a paper leading end is detected by the sensor B to a point of time when the paper leading end is detected by the sensor C is measured. A table is referred to on the basis of the measured feed required time to discriminate the kind of the paper 21.
