PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an outdoor unit having a low cost, a small size, excellent assembling properties, operability or the like by disposing a controller to be above a heat exchanger in an outdoor body, and surrounding the controller by a partition plate for partitioning the exchanger side and the controller side and a controller cover. SOLUTION: The outdoor unit 30 comprises a bottom plate 31, a front cabinet 32, a rear cabinet 33 and a top plate 34 on its exterior a heat exchanger 35 disposed on the plate 31 and a compressor 36 disposed on its back surface side. A bower 38 is supported to a motor base 37 at a center of a front surface side. A controller 40 is disposed on the exchanger 35 and the base 37. The controller 40 is surrounded by a partition plate 41 used also as an inverter base and an inverter cover. The plate 41 is used also as the inverter base, and the inverter cover is formed of an aluminum of a highly thermally conductive material. Thus, a weight and number of components can be reduced, and assembling properties can be improved and its cost can be reduced.
