PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To permit energization of an electric motor by using a fixing member that fixes a base to a column that supports an electric fan head portion equipped with the electric motor and to prevent misuse of the electric fan with its base left loose from the column by providing a safety switch that cuts off electricity supplied to the electric motor when the fixing member is disconnected. SOLUTION: To assemble this electric fan, a support portion 25 of a column 4 is fitted to a column support portion 10 of a base 3 by inserting a positioning tab into a mating positioning recess. When the support portion 25 of the column 4 is fitted positively to the column support portion 10 of the base 3, an engaging tab formed at a foundation 26 of the support portion 25 engages with a bottom surface of the column support portion 10, thus temporarily fixing the base 3 to the column 4. After the electric fan is turned over with the base 3 temporarily fixed to the column 4, a fixing member 35 is screwed to a threaded portion 27 of the support portion 25, thereby firmly securing the base 3 to the column 4. Screwing the fixing member 35 presses an operating portion of a safety switch against the fixing member 35, allowing electricity to be supplied via terminals 23, 32 to an electric motor. This completes the assembly of the base 3 to the column 4.
