PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cope with both cases of using a handle longitudinally and laterally with one kind of lock body and handle device and to manufacture an operating member at a low cost by forming the operating member in shaft shape rotated around an axis, and cutting a long-sized shaft so as to correspond to the plate thickness of a door to make it usable as the operating member. SOLUTION: In a push-pull type handle lock comprising a lock body 3 and a handle device 4, a seat 6 fitted to the lock body 3 side is provided with a shaft-like operating member fitted into a case of the lock body 3 by the pulling or pushing action of a handle and rotated around an axis without moving from the fitted position. This operating member is fittingly inserted in an actuating member rotatably provided in the lock case, and a latch bolt 32 of the lock body 3 is allowed to advance or retreat by the rotation of the actuating member consequent to the rotation of the operating member.
