PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce the subjectαtype inexpensive pigment excellent in dispersibility by dry pulverizing a crude copper phthalocyanine pigment in the presence of a specific additive at a specified temperature or below. SOLUTION: (A) A crude copper phtalocyanine pigment is dry pulverized in the presence of (B) at least one kind of additive selected from a surfactant, a basic copper phthalocyanine derivative, a phthalimidomethylated copper phthalocyanine and a low halogenated copper phthalocyanine (preferably the surfactant and at least one kind selected from the basic copper phthalocyanine derivative, phthalimidomethylated copper phthalocyanine and low halogenated copper phthalocyanine used in combination) at <=90 deg.C to thereby produce a copper phthalocyanine derivative having >=95%αtype crystal content. The component B is preferably added in an amount of 2-20 wt.% based on the component A thereto. The resultant copper phthalocyanine pigment can be dispersed in water in the presence of the surfactant to thereby prepare an aqueous dispersion used for pigment printing or a water-based coating material, or the like.
