PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the falling of a preserving soln. in a recording area after the replacement of an ink jet head. SOLUTION: An ink jet head is filled with a preserving soln. before mounted on a carriage. After the replacement of a plurality of ink jet heads, first purge operation replacing the preserving soln. with ink by successively performing purge operation from the ink jet head positioned on the side of a recording area is performed (steps S10-S13). As restoration purge for restoring ink jet capacity, second purge operation successively performing purge from the ink jet head ejecting dark color ink is performed (steps S14-S17). |
