PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a lowering of resistance between electrodes or lowering of a recording grade caused by a dummy short circuit and the damage of a pressure generating element even if an ink jet recording apparatus is used under a high humidity condition. SOLUTION: In an ink jet recording apparatus, a drive signal COM includes a first signal 114 changing from intermediate potential Vm to the lowest potential VLS to expand a pressure generating chamber, a second signal 115 holding the expanded state of the pressure generating chamber, a third signal 116 changing from the lowest potential VLS holding this expanded state to the highest potential Vp to contract the pressure generating chamber to emit an ink droplet from a nozzle orifice and a fourth signal 117 changing from the highest potential to the intermediate potential. Herein, in a high humidity state, the highest potential is shifted to low potential to reduce the load of a piezoelectric vibrator. |
