PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lessen margins left unprintable at the head and foot of recording paper. SOLUTION: A platen roller 12 is provided with an air blowoff head 15 that has a multitude of air ports lining up in a main scanning direction. Air blowing out of the air ports presses recording paper 11 against the platen roller 12. This expedience dispenses with clampers and auxiliary nip rollers used to press the recording paper 11 against the platen roller 12 to thus lessen unprinted areas or margins posed by the employment of such clampers and auxiliary nip rollers and also simplify the overall construction accordingly.
