PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten an icemaking time by providing a sensor for continuously detecting a temperature of an icemaking tray and a detector. SOLUTION: In the automatic icemaker, when a temperature of an icemaking tray is lowered and water starts to be frozen, a temperature of the tray is substantially constant while it absorbs a heat of a solidification of water, and hence a temperature changing rate is lowered. Since the absorption of the heat of the solidification is eliminated when the water is completely frozen, the rate is raised, and a microprocessor captures the rate and decides freezing. Since the temperature and the rate are detected and the freezing is decided in this manner, an influence of unevenness of an output value according to chilled gas temperature of a deep freeze and a mounting degree of a temperature sensor can be extremely reduced. Similarly, since an accuracy of an ice releasing decision is improved in the case of cutting OFF an energization of an ice discharging heater, a time from an actual ice releasing to a deenergization of the heater is shortened, an icemaking time is shortened, and dissipation power is also reduced.
