SEA ISLAND STRUCTURE FIBER AND ITS PRODUCTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a sea island structural fiber having more excellent uniformily of island component parts than that of a conventional melt blend spinning fiber and a larger number of the island component parts than those of a conventional conjugate spinning fiber. SOLUTION: This fiber has a sea island structural section obtained by using a polyethylene or a polystyrene as a sea component and another polymer as an island component. The island component has 0.001-0.5 denier thickness and is continuous in the length direction. The yarn section has 40-500 islands on the average, the maximum value and the minimum value of the numbers of islands are distributed in a range of minus 10% to 20% based on the aqueous number of islands and the distribution of island components in the yarn section does not form a concentric circular shape.
