PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a quick-drying aqueous coating material composition scarcely having the smell of a volatile base generated from the coating material, exhibiting an excellent quick-drying property, and further capable of providing a coating film with gloss sufficient for a luster-giving coating material. SOLUTION: This quick-drying aqueous coating material composition comprises (A) a synthetic resin emulsion stabilized with anionic functional groups, (B) an amino functional group-containing aqueous resin, (C) a pigment, (D) an amino alcohol having a boiling point of >=100 deg.C, and (E) a volatile base having a boiling point of <100 deg.C. A weight ratio of D and E is set to give a (D)/[(D)+E)] of 0.50-0.98. The composition may further contain (F) an anionic surfactant having alkylene oxide group.
