PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a one-liquid type vinyl acetate emulsion compsn. having a long pot life and excellent in handling property, and forming a film of excellent application properties, such as water resistance, boiling resistance, solvent resistance, and storage stability. SOLUTION: This compsn. comprises vinyl acetate resin aqueous emulsion (A) contg. 1-50 pts.wt. modified vinyl alcohol of not lower than 97 mol % saponification contg. 1-24 mol % ethylene unit, to the total monomer, 0.1-10 pts.wt. polymer contg. oxazoline group (B) to the 100 pts.wt. solid content of the vinyl acetate resin aqueous emulsion (A). It is pref. that the polymer contg. oxazoline group (B) is a water soluble polymer having an oxazoline group in its branched chain and further contg. a polyvalent metal salt.
