PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent sticking of a float used for the detection of a decrease in amount of liquid in a container. SOLUTION: This relates to a valve assembly and a bottom draining container having the valve assembly. A first body member 22 supports a guide member 26, and the guide member 26 extends up toward the container. A float 38 is so provided as to move along the guide member 26 and floats in a liquid to be drained from the container. The float 38 has a mating surface 39 which engages with a second mating surface 43 when the float 38 is in an unsensed position. The mating surface 39 of the float 38 has a construction minimizing sticking of the float 38. For example, the mating surface 39 is formed in the shape of saw teeth. Saw teeth may be formed on a mating surface 43. The same construction is provided on the opposite side of the float 38.
