PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide scroll compressor that can reduce the seating noise generated when the closing discharge valve is brought into contact with the fixed scroll by increasing the hole diameter of the discharge outlet to which the discharge valve is fitted. SOLUTION: An electric motor and a compression portion are disposed in a sealed container. The scroll compressor is provided with a fixed scroll having a coil-like lap on an end plate, a turning scroll to form a plurality of compression chambers through engagement with the fixed scroll 4, and a discharge valve 19 for discharging the compressed gas from the discharge outlet 16 via the discharge hole 16a formed in the vicinity of the center of the fixed scroll 4 to the discharge chamber under pressure so as to prevent gas from returning to the compressor chamber from the discharge chamber. A recess portion 16b is formed in the low portion of the discharge outlet 16, which communicates with the discharge hole 16a. Further the hole diameter of the discharge outlet 16 is increased to be larger than that of the discharge hole 16a.
