PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten a construction period by omitting supports within a tank. SOLUTION: A first ring-shaped row of roofs 2 and a second ring-shaped row of roofs 3 are lifted from the outside onto a side wall 1b of a tank 1, constructed beforehand, and both the rows of roofs 2, 3 are pushed inward from the outside of the tank 1, while the roofs are brought into circumferentially abutting engagement, whereby the first and second rows of roofs 2, 3 are formed successively, from the outside to the inside of the tank 1. Finally, a coping piece 4 is placed on the tank 1 from the outside thereof to construct a roof consisting of the first and second rows of roofs 2, 3 and the coping piece 4 on the tank 1.
